Universal Design Living Laboratory

An email from Rosemarie Rossetti and Mark Leder You are receiving this email because you have had past direct written, phone and/or face-to-face communication with Rosemarie Rossetti, Ph.D. or Mark Leder (Rossetti Enterprises, RosemarieSpeaks, or the Universal Design Living Laboratory). We are sending you this one-time only email as you may have an interest in our latest project, the Universal Design Living Laboratory national demonstration home, and to offer you a free subscription to our recently launched periodic email newsletter (details at the bottom of this email). Universal Design Living Laboratory The home illustrates a holistic approach to design and construction, featuring: complete accessibility (Universal Design) for young and old, able and disabled, "green" and recycled building materials and practices having a reduced impact on the planet a healthy living environment for all occupants. In short, our mission is to be a catalyst for change in the residential housing market. Changing demographics (aging baby boomers) and a coming shortage / increasing cost of assisted living facilities means more people will care for their extended families in their own homes. Most homes/apartments/condos are ill-prepared to meet these needs. It's been a remarkably long and monumental process to orchestrate and execute the design, planning, construction and move-in to our home (over the course of nearly 8 years). Now the process has shifted to preparing the home for public tours (as soon as the landscape is completed). We will also continue to expand our educational outreach efforts. We've learned a lot along the way, and want to share our insights, tips, resources, upcoming events/tours, and educational opportunities with you. These would cover topics such as Universal Design, Green Building, Healthy Home, Accessible Gardening, among others. Here's an article that Rosemarie wrote in 2010 about the Ten Myths about Universal Design: Ten Myths about Universal Design Visit our Website. http://www.udll.com.
